In an interview with Oprah, Meghan Markle detailed her experience with the royal family. While sharing details of her tenure as Duchess of Sussex, she revealed a few shocking details.
While speaking, Meghan stated that the color of Archie— soon to be two-years-old in May–would not have any title. Something Meghan stated was not custom and was “different from protocol.”
“They didn’t want him to be a prince, which would be different from protocol, and that he wasn’t going to receive security,” Meghan stated to Oprah.
Meghan revealed there was also a conversation about his skin tone. “We have in tandem the conversation of, ‘He won’t be given security. He’s not going to be given a title.’ And also concerns and conversations about how dark his skin might be when he’s born.”
Oprah also asked Harry about the conversation. While he didn’t go into detail, he did confirm that the conversation happened.
“That conversation I’m never going to share,” he said. “It was awkward. I was a bit shocked.”
Harry also added that the conversation took place early on in his relationship with Meghan. “That was right at the beginning– ‘What will the kids look like?’”
